Covid hotspots not impacting property yet

18 Oct 2020

This week in five seconds

  • No material slowdown in listings in Covid hotspots
  • Property market continues as usual
  • Long completion dates advised against as solicitors fear rules may change
  • Not much to report this week

No slow down yet

Listings in the covid hotspots of Newcastle, Durham, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham are tracking at the same rate as the rest of the UK indicating that tightening rules are yet to impact the property market.

The agents we have spoken to indicate that viewings are continuing as usual although they are seeing a reduction in viewing levels due to less people coming in from outside the immediate area.

We expect that tenanted properties may start to struggle as conditions tighten further and tenants push back on viewings.

Solicitors advising against long completion dates

Some solicitors do not want more than a few days between exchange and completion in case the rules suddenly change.

Property market still normal

Not much further to report at this stage but the market remains open across the UK with full activity. Its tough in London where properties without gardens are at a much deeper discount than before.

Otherwise not much else to report so keep trading!

Have a great final few hours of your weekend!
