To begin our series of Movewise webinars for 2022, our property experts took a fresh look at the cladding crisis that has affected huge numbers of flats in residential blocks across the UK since the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.
Industry estimates suggest that more than half a million people in the UK live in buildings with potentially dangerous cladding materials – and many more could be affected even if they don't have dangerous cladding. In this session, our CEO Tom Scarborough and Property Adviser Kitty Cavendish discuss the complexities of EWS1 forms, which properties are likely to need them and why it can be almost impossible to sell a flat without one. They also outline the latest developments announced by the government in February 2022, intended to ensure that developers pay the costs of remedial work rather than leaving leaseholders to pick up the bill.
You can watch the full video above, and read our in-depth guide to selling properties affected by the cladding crisis.
Our second webinar of the year will be held on Thursday 17 March at 10am, and will be entitled When to sell a property at auction.
